About Crooked Crow
What's New | About the Band | The Music | The Name
Crooked Crow has finished our latest record! A five-song EP titled Real People was just released. It is now available for sale at CDBaby and is now available at iTunes and other on-line stores.
Our CD release party was on June 7th, at The Beautiful South, in lovely Hamilton, VA. Thanks to everyone who came out, packed the place, and helped us celebrate the newest addition to our catalog!
We want to extend a special thanks to all who made the trek to our recent show in Asbury Park, NJ. You guys really are the greatest fans a band could want. We drew 46 people to a Friday night show almost 300 miles from home. Not bad you guys...not bad at all! But wait, there's more! Because of that showing, we've been asked back to play again! Our next show there is on September 13th, 2008. After the show, just like last time, there will also be an epic afterparty at the hotel!
We have just made available MP3s of songs recorded under the band's old name, Acoustic Reign. Since we can no longer sell these CDs (long story), our favorite option was to release the songs free to the public. Enjoy!

How do you like the new website? The redesign is complete. Feel free to drop us a line either on the Guestbook page, or by sending us an email, via our handy email form.
Crooked Crow's sound can best be described as falling somewhere between Vertical Horizon and Tonic. You'll have to listen to the clips in the MP3s section to see what we mean.
Oh, and for a good laugh, check out this audio clip (MP3, 1 MB) from an "interview" Bruce gave Army Entertainment reporter Rob Young (apparently, while standing IN a helium tank). It's good stuff, I swear.
Crooked Crow has a much edgier, heavier, sound than the first incarnation of the band, "Acoustic Reign." Looking to establish themselves in the DC/Baltimore indie scene, the band is working to build a large following, and are well on the way with regularly scheduled appearances at multiple regional venues.
Crooked Crow realeased an album, "Running to Mercury" in the fall of 2003. In 2004, singer Bruce Parker released a solo album entitlled "John's Son." Both albums are available for sale on the CDs page. The full band is currently involved in production of our latest album, tentativly titled "It is What It Was."

Lead singer Bruce Parker drove past a road sign for "Crooked Crow Road" every day for several years. Bassist Jamie had also often seen the sign and thought "What a cool name for a band." This paralleled Bruce's thinking, who figured perhaps it was a sign from the gods (but Jamie argued it was a sign from the Virginia Department of Transportation).
Either way, Bruce suggested it as the name for the new incarnation of our band, and we all liked it. Now, I wish we could say that one of us maybe lived on Crooked Crow Road, maybe fallen in love or wrecked a car there, or perhaps that someone had an out-of-body experience involving a Native American Shaman...
...but sadly, no. The simple truth is we just liked the name!
